Why does azelaic acid pill, and does Left Un-Red?

Most azelaic acid does. This one is built not to.

Straight azelaic acid is hard to dissolve, so many formulas feel gritty, pill under makeup or sting. Left Un-Red Reducer Serum splits its 10% complex between azelaic acid and potassium azeloyl diglycinate, a water-soluble form, so it layers smoothly under CalmBack Cream and makeup.

You can absolutely run both; Dr. Shereene Idriss recommends prioritizing your main concern. If both dark spots and redness are in play: use Hyper Serum morning and night with Active Seal as your morning moisturizer, then run Reducer Serum plus CalmBack Cream as your evening routine. General rule: layer thinnest to thickest, and wear sunscreen every morning while you're using either line.

One of the serum's active ingredients, hydroxyphenyl propamidobenzoic acid, is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, so we recommend skipping it during this time. As always, check with your doctor about your skincare routine while pregnant or nursing.
