A brief, mild tingle is normal, especially on freshly chapped lips, since Lip Peel exfoliates with gentle acids. Dr. Shereene Idriss's rule is simple: mild tingling that fades within a few minutes is fine, but a constant tingle or a burning sensation is not. If it burns, or you see lasting redness or flaking, stop, scale back to once a week, and check in with your dermatologist if it keeps happening.

If you have an active cold sore, avoid using exfoliating acids and do not use anything with an applicator until it has healed. If you have a history of cold sores, we suggest consulting your dermatologist prior to use; chemical exfoliants can potentially trigger cold sores in people prone to them.

Yes. AHAs like mandelic acid in the Lip Peel can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. We always recommend applying an SPF 30+ anywhere you've used AHAs the night before.

Neither. It's a leave-on exfoliating treatment serum that uses gentle acids instead of grit. Let it fully absorb, then follow with Lip Baste to seal.
