Let's get basted. Inspired by Dr. Shereene Idriss' viral lip-saving hack, meet your new go-to solution for chapped lips relief unlike any other. Barrier Baste Lip Peel is the first-of-its-kind, made-for-lips chemical exfoliator that gently smooths and hydrates. Clinically proven and formulated with high-performance AHAs and PHAs like mandelic acid to visibly smooth skin and gluconolactone to draw moisture into lips.

Baste on a true story ;)

Dr. Shereene Idriss invented the viral lip basting hack during a trip to Wyoming when no other treatment could relieve her dry, overly chapped lips.

“I was in Jackson, Wyoming, where the air is dry AF in the dead of winter, and my lips were constantly peeling no matter what I did. I had a sugar scrub with me and was about to scrub for the hundredth time when I realized: scrubbing made my lips as flaky as a croissant.

“This common occurrence and the lackluster results of lip balms led me to start “Lip Basting,” a viral routine where I would apply a chemical exfoliator and then baste my lips with a rich body cream like they were a turkey on Thanksgiving. Inspired by this hack, I wanted to create a fool-proof system strong enough to fix my flaky lips, while gentle enough for daily use and improving the lips’ skin barrier longterm. Get buttery, basted, and smooth.”

FAQs

Dr. Shereene Idriss recommends starting with once a week at night and working up to greater frequency as needed.

We do not recommend using the Lip Peel during day because AHA exfoliants can make lips more sensitive to sun.

Yes. AHAs like mandelic acid in the Lip Peel can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. We always recommend applying an SPF 30+ anywhere you've used AHAs the night before.

If you have an active cold sore, avoid using exfoliating acids and do not use anything with an applicator until it has healed. If you have a history of cold sores, we suggest consulting your dermatologist prior to use; chemical exfoliants can potentially trigger cold sores in people prone to them.

The Lip Basting Duo is not designed to be a treatment for eczema. We recommend consulting your dermatologist regarding any skin conditions. The product is suitable for sensitive skin, but you should avoid using the Lip Peel on active eczema.

The Lip Basting Duo contains no added artificial fragrance. There is peppermint oil for a subtle natural minty flavor in the Lip Baste.

Tips from Dr. Idriss

When using a product with AHAs like the Barrier Baste Lip Peel, remember to reapply sunscreen throughout the day.

If you have a history of cold sores, infections, or any irritation around your lips, consult your local dermatologist prior to use.

Allow the Lip Peel 15-30 seconds to absorb into your lips before applying the Lip Baste.
