Welcome to your 30s!
When you approach your 30s, you experience the first peak of aging, which usually happens around 30 to 32, when you’ll notice a change in your face, and you can't quite put your finger on it. In your late 30s, there's going to be a second peak, when you realize over the course of a month, something is really up and it's happening faster than you can say no to it.
That is the aging process hitting you in your 30s. The reality is, nothing you buy over the counter is going to help restore your volume or fix your bone structure. I always say, age is not a skin type and you cannot buy products based on your age. BUT there are certain things that happen in this decade that are more or less universal to us all and we can be prepared to address it in a more efficient manner throughout our 30s.
What changes in your skin in your 30s?
- Volume loss
- Stress
- Hormonal changes
- Decline in collagen production
All of those things wreak havoc on our skin. We will start to notice fine lines because our skin cannot repair itself as efficiently. We’ll notice we are oily, and start developing more breakouts, blemishes, and acne along our jawline.
Lastly, the damage of our 20s slowly starts to creep up, and we become blotchy. Those sun damage freckles in our 20s start to look muddy and not as fresh. That is just a reality that we can be better equipped to address as we enter our 30s.
Skincare is no longer just about protecting, (which it is all about in your teens and 20s so you can minimize the damage later while you still have the maximum level of collagen). In your 30s, you not only want to protect, but you also want to make sure that you are repairing and supporting your foundation.
