As you all know, I’ve struggled with melasma in the past. For years, I tried countless products to discern which ingredients worked for me. This resulted in an overly-complex, nearly 12-step skincare routine that was laborious and costly. So I thought, why not practice what I’ve been preaching all these years (about how “less is best”) and create a line that simplifies and streamlines redundant skincare regimes with a 3-step solution-centric system that's jam-packed with all the ingredients you actually need.
How does Major Fade improve uneven skin tone?
Major Fade is a multi-pronged approach to treating discoloration with several active ingredients.
Step 1: Flash Mask
Flash Mask is a powerful acid-based resurfacing mask that will act as your chemical exfoliating step. This formula works at the top layer of your skin to exfoliate and buff away dead skin cells. Its key ingredients are:
- Glycolic Acid: Exfoliates and promotes appearance of smoother skin
- Lactic Acid: Helps reduce discoloration
- Tranexamic Acid: Evens skin tone
- Glycerin: Hydrates
Flash Mask is more powerful than gentle, so make sure to patch test before using it.
Why a mask instead of a serum?
We did this to prevent people from over-exfoliating. It's common knowledge that a mask isn’t for everyday use, so this is a way to safeguard everyone from overdoing it. Use Flash Mask up to three times a week at night, applying (not massaging!) it in a thin layer and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. After that, rinse it off thoroughly with water and pat dry. And of course, remember to wear your SPF during the day.
Step 2: Hyper Serum
Hyper Serum is a dynamic brightening serum that fades discoloration and creates a beautiful and instant illuminating effect on the skin. Its key ingredients are:
- Alpha Arbutin: Improves the appearance of uneven skin tone
- Kojic Acid: Helps fade the appearance of dark spots
- Niacinamide: Supports skin barrier
- Diglucosyl Gallic Acid: Visibly decreases skin redness
- Glycerin: Hydrates
How to
Gently massage it all over your face twice daily to treat dark spots and brighten your complexion. Again, remember to apply sunscreen (at least a SPF 30) every morning as the last step of your routine.
The packaging
Hyper Serum comes in a unique serum-pen design with the formula packaged in two pen cartridges to keep it fresh and potent. When your first cartridge runs out, twist the push-button counterclockwise to the ON position, grasp it tightly and then pull it back to remove the empty. Replace this with your new cartridge by inserting and twisting it until it snaps into place. And voila! An easy 2-step top-up.
Step 3: Active Seal
Active Seal is a moisturizing gel cream that is more than your average moisturizer! It acts as a sealant step and locks in all the ingredients you applied while delivering a powerful cocktail of brightening actives that slow down your melanocytes and the melanin synthesis process. Oh! And the texture is heavenly: consider it the love child of a gel moisturizer and a milky cream. Its key ingredients are:
- Vitamin C ester tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate: a brightening agent/antioxidant (so that you won’t need a separate vitamin C serum)
- 4-butyl resorcinol: Visibly fades discoloration
- Hexapeptide-2: Reduces the appearance of fine lines
- Hydrolyzed Brassica Napus Seedcake Extract: Helps to diminish the look of stubborn spots
- Glycerin: Hydrates
How to
Apply 1-2 pumps twice daily, morning and night, after your serum, and then follow this up with your SPF30+ sunscreen.
Get the most out of your Active Seal moisturizer
We packaged Active Seal in an airless container to keep the formula fresh and germ-free. When the pump no longer dispenses product, twist the dispenser top counterclockwise to open the jar so you can scrape and enjoy every last drop.
Must I buy all the products from the Major Fade Solution System to reap the rewards?
We understand that budgets are tight in the current climate, so we designed each of these products to be effective enough to use solo.
