Skin nerd facts
Why fading rewards patience
Under 1%
Melanocytes are less than 1% of your skin cells, yet they control 100% of your pigment.
Bottom-up
Dark spots fade from the deepest layer of skin upward, so visible change takes weeks, not days.
Deeper, more
Richer complexions have more active melanocytes, which is why discoloration shows up more readily and rewards a targeted routine.
What to expect
Your 8-week timeline
Dark spots fade with consistency, not overnight. Here is the honest arc.
“Dark spots don’t need panic. They need patience.”

Questions, answered
Frequently asked
Yes. Apply the Hyper Serum to clean skin, then your moisturizer. It layers safely with retinol, vitamin C, and topical prescriptions, including hydroquinone. If you use a retinoid, apply it on the nights you are not exfoliating, and ease in slowly if your skin is sensitive. Always finish your morning routine with SPF.
You will usually notice brighter, more hydrated skin within the first couple of weeks. Tone evens out around weeks 4 to 6, and dark spots visibly fade by 6 to 8 weeks, with deeper spots improving over the following months. Consistency is the rule.
Major Fade was built to be gentle, and many sensitive-skin customers use it daily. If you are prone to reactions, patch test first and start 2 to 3 nights a week, then build up as your skin adjusts. Brightening actives can tingle at first, so ease in.
The Hyper Serum does not contain retinoids or hydroquinone. Everyone’s pregnancy is different, so we always recommend running your routine by your OB or dermatologist first. This is a cosmetic, not a medical treatment.
Morning and night: cleanse, apply the Hyper Serum to clean skin, then follow with your moisturizer. In the morning, finish with sunscreen. That is the whole routine.
Each Hyper Serum ships with two cartridges on purpose. Brightening actives lose potency as they sit exposed to air, so the refill keeps your serum fresh and effective down to the last drop. Just swap in the second cartridge when the first runs out.
The Hyper Serum was developed for every skin tone, from fair to deep, and is great for any form of uneven skin tone, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, post-acne marks, melasma, or post-inflammatory pigmentation from conditions like acne or eczema. The actives target pigment at the source, which matters most for richer complexions that show discoloration more readily.
The Hyper Serum was created with all skin types in mind. It is lightweight enough that oily skin will not feel overbearing, and it absorbs easily on dry skin. If your skin runs dry, simply follow it with a richer moisturizer.
Absolutely. A retinoid can boost the effects of the Hyper Serum and up your skin game. We recommend applying your retinoid on the nights you are not exfoliating. If you have sensitive skin, apply the Hyper Serum first and let it absorb, then layer your retinoid on top so the serum acts as a buffer. If your skin is not sensitive, you can apply the retinoid before or after the Hyper Serum.
So, why did we leave it out? Everyone’s tolerance for retinol is different, and Dr. Shereene Idriss believes retinol needs to be titrated to meet your skin’s unique needs, both in terms of the formula concentration (percent of retinol) and the frequency of use. That is why the Hyper Serum focuses on brightening actives and layers cleanly with the retinoid you already use.
Yes. The Hyper Serum is not designed to treat rosacea, but it contains ingredients that help improve uneven skin tone and calm the look of redness.
Yes. All skin types benefit from a brighter, more even-toned complexion.
